Marriage proposal(s) at Vancouver’s SeaWheeze Half-Marathon

All the feels when seeing these marriage proposals from the sold-out Vancouver half-marathon over the weekend

Lululemon Seawheeze

Some shiny post-race bling was on display at the Lululemon SeaWheeze Half in Vancouver on the weekend. And we’re not talking about just the race medals.

At the finish line, one runner, Matt Rhodes, got down on his knee and proposed to his partner, Brianna Dawson, in front of hundreds of participants. There are few better places in Vancouver for such a moment than Coal Harbour on the shores of Burrard Inlet, the location of the finish line.

The two ran SeaWheeze together and finished in an identical 2:30:10.

Incredibly, there was a second marriage proposal at the race. This couple showed off their race medals, along with the finger hardware after the race near the Vancouver Convention Centre.

According to Race Day Timing, there were 9,774 participants at the sold-out event on Saturday. Arianne Raby and James Lander won the half-marathon in 1:19:01 and 1:10:15, respectively.

The SeaWheeze Half-Marathon started and finished in downtown Vancouver and featured a loop of Stanley Park, with more than half the route bordering the Pacific Ocean. Runners received a pair of shorts, among other goodies, as part of the registration fee.
