MacDougall sisters dominate OUA Championships
The MacDougall sisters went 1-2 and the men's race saw one of the tightest finishes in years at the OUA cross-country championships

Brogan MacDougall of Queen’s University was the winner at the OUA cross-country championships in London, Ont. on Saturday. Canadian Running caught a few words with her post-race.

Her older sister, Branna, finished in second place crossing the line in 28:34. This was Branna’s first cross-country race of the 2018 season. Third place went to fifth year Kristina Popadich of Western in 28:41.
The Queen’s women took the team competition, finishing with 34 points. Interestingly, three of their five point scorers were rookies, showing a promising future for their women’s programme.
Second place in the team competition went to Guelph who finished only six points behind Queen’s. The two teams seem very evenly matched which will make for an interesting national championship in two weeks time. Third place went to Western with 105 points.

In the men’s results, Max Turek of McMaster took the win. The second year runner just out-leaned Mark Patton of Guelph in a shockingly close finish. The top three men’s runners were only separated by three seconds. Both men are listed in the results at 31:56, and third place runner, Isaiah Frielink of Western finished in 31:59.

McMaster upset Guelph for the win in the men’s team competition. The Marauders have put together a very strong championship team and showed that yesterday. The second place team were the Queen’s Gaels, finishing only fourteen points behind McMaster. Their team is led by second year runner Mitchell Delange.
Guelph finished in third place, but did so without USports 2017 second place finisher Connor Black. If Black steps on the line in two weeks, Guelph should be back in the mix for a team medal.
