Man breaks female finisher’s tape in marathon
Amy Manning didn't get to break the tape in her first marathon win
On Sunday in Toledo, Ohio at the Mercy Health Glass City Marathon women’s winner Amy Manning didn’t get to break the tape for her win. She crossed the line in 2:52:52 and was the winner of the women’s event. The video below shows a man breaking the tape and Manning visible (and audibly) frustrated as she crosses the line.

Except Manning is not the one to break the tape held up for the female winner of the 2019 Mercy Health Glass City Marathon. #4Run9 #RunGCM #RunToledo pic.twitter.com/PJFE6Td8Cm

After 42.2K of hard running, it’s a pretty honest mistake to make but regardless, that wasn’t Christian Floyd’s tape to break.
Manning told The Blade after her race, “I was a little upset not to get to break the tape because I’ve never gotten to do that before. But in the grand scheme of things that doesn’t really matter.” According to The Blade, Floyd later apologized.

Manning was also given another opportunity to break the tape.
Big thanks to the wonderful race organizers at @GCM_Toledo for the opportunity to re-enact my tape-breaking moment. Thank you for a great race weekend! #marathon #GlassCityMarathon pic.twitter.com/XRQUruRnCV
