Maritime Race Weekend adds two-hour concert to race registration

The kitchen-party atmosphere will be greatly enhanced with the addition of a two-hour concert by the popular Halifax-based band Merimac

What’s a visit to the Maritimes without an authentic, east-coast kitchen party? The Maritime Race Weekend after-party has always had plenty of giveaways and free beer, but this year registrants also get to enjoy a two-hour concert with Merimac, the popular Halifax-based band. Maritime Race Weekend is September 13 and 14.

The pirate-themed event is known for its great race swag, including light-up race medals, unique race bibs and sweet moisture-wicking shirts. The band performance is part of Rogers Kitchen Party, which is new this year.

“This isn’t the type of event where you run, eat your bagel and leave,” says race director Michelle Kempton. “You’ll want to stick around to experience the true east coast after-party…”

The even will also feature fiddlers, banjo players and highland dancers to entertain runners post-race.

Merimac plays rock and pop classics, EDM and country, in addition to traditional Maritime styles.
