Maritime Race Weekend is back for 2022!
The weekend of Sept. 16 and 17 will see two 5K's and a 10K in Eastern Passage, N.S.
Pirates are used to outbreaks and scurvy, but COVID-19 was something else, wasn’t it? For two years, the Maritime Race Weekend pirate ship has been anchored, but it is finally back for 2022. Nova Scotia’s pirate-themed running event is a must-do this year.
On Sept. 16 and 17, runners will take a deep breath of fresh, salty air and run along scenic coastline routes in Nova Scotia. Maritime Race Weekend has been a favourite destination event for 10 years. Minutes from Halifax and located at Fisherman’s Cove, Eastern Passage, the pirate crew is ready to welcome runners into their fishing village.
What’s not to love about Maritime Race Weekend? This race is everything Maritimes: from ocean scenery to pirates, local bands and, of course, east coast comfort food and beer are sure to get everyone in the racing mood, especially with pirate booty (cash prizes and sneaker giveaways) at the finish line!
Just before the pandemic started, Maritime Race Weekend was named Race of the Year. Race director Michelle Kempton says the pirate crew will deliver the same standard of excellence and fun that runners expect from the most fun race event in Canada. (The festive pirate after-party is legendary–you won’t want to miss it!)
Choose from among three in-person races on Sept. 16 and 17: the Sunset 5K on Friday evening, the Sunrise 5K on Saturday morning and the Coastal 10K (also Saturday morning). Or race the Sunset 5K and one of the Saturday races, for a Tartan Twosome, and earn three medals!
With this being Maritime Race Weekend’s 10th anniversary year, it will likely sell out. With only 2,500 spots available and 800 of those reserved for those who deferred entry during the pandemic, now is the time to book your registration.
