Canadian W40 5,000m record smashed at York University
Mary Unsworth lowered the masters indoor record for the 40-44 age group by more than two minutes

Mary Unsworth improved the Canadian W40 5,000m indoor record by more than two minutes at the Toronto Track and Field Centre on Sunday.
The masters runner completed the 25-lap event at York University in 17:07:11, crushing the previous mark of 19:23:64, set by Michelle Clark in 2016. The feat was accomplished at the Ontario Masters Athletics (OMA) Mini Meet #2.
Unsworth runs for Muskoka Algonquin Runners.
According to the University of Toronto Masters Track Club, Unsworth covered the final 1K in 3:15, or 16:15 5K pace.
