30-year-old runner dies after participating in Quebec City Half-Marathon
A 30-year-old runner passed away following participation in the Quebec City Half-Marathon
A 30-year-old from Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, Que. died after running the Quebec City Half-Marathon on Sunday, officials confirmed to CBC Montreal.
Maxime Pouliot Rochefort required medical attention when he was approximately 2K from the finish line. The father was transported to local hospital and died Sunday afternoon in hospital.

“It’s very sad news and our hearts are with the victim’s family and loved ones,” marathon spokesperson Chantal Lachance told the CBC. The death was the third in the race’s history with fatalities occuring in 1999, the event’s second year, and 2008.
Sunday marked the 20th edition of the Quebec City Marathon. The half-marathon featured as many as 2,915 participants, according to timing company Sportstats.
