New Balance All-Stars break distance medley relay world record in Boston
The team of Heather MacLean, Kendall Ellis, Roisin Willis and Elle Purrier St. Pierre clocked 10:33.85 at The TRACK this weekend

The team of Heather MacLean, Kendall Ellis, Roisin Willis and Elle Purrier St. Pierre broke the distance medley relay (DMR) world record this weekend at New Balance’s brand-new indoor facility (The TRACK), running 10:33.85. Their time was six seconds faster than the previous indoor record of 10:39.91, set by the Nike Union Athletics Club two months ago in Spokane, and faster than the outdoor world record of 10:36.50 set by the US team of Treniere Moser, Sanya Richards-Ross, Ajee’ Wilson and Shannon Rowbury at the 2015 World Relays in the Bahamas.
Leading up to the event, New Balance made it clear that the team would be on the hunt for a world record. Maclean started the team off very strong with the first 1,200m leg, running 3:14.92 before handing the baton off to Ellis, who clocked 52.05 for the next 400m leg. From there, high school runner Willis ran a very fast 800m in 2:03.30. Purrier St. Pierre ran arguably the most impressive leg of the race, completing the final mile in 4:23.55 to close out the race for the team and solidify their world record.
Canada’s Will Paulson runs fast 1,500 in California
On the opposite side of the continent, Canadian-British runner Will Paulson placed second in the men’s 1,500m at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, CA. in 3:33.97, the fastest time run by a Canadian in three years.
Paulson burst onto the Canadian track scene in 2019, when he won the Canadian 1,500m championship in Montreal and took home the bronze medal in the event at the 2019 Pan Am Games. He finished just behind University of Alabama runner Eliud Kipsang, who won the race in 3:33.74, and Northern Arizona University runner Abdihamid Nur completed the podium in 3:36.33.
