The Queen City Marathon in Regina made for a busy weekend in the Saskatchewan capital as thousands of runners raced varying distances.

The event, first run in 2001, celebrated its 16th anniversary this weekend and had more than 6,000 runners take part. The half-marathon, with 2,129 participants according to race timing company Sportstats, was the largest of the weekend races. The 5K and mini-marathon were held on Saturday.
The mini-marathon was one of the weekend’s most popular events as the next generation of runners hit the streets for some shorter races. Kids from three up to 14 took part in varying distances depending on their age in a fun and positive atmosphere.
