Reid Coolsaet wins first 4K cross-country race in 14 years

Results from this weekend's AO cross-country championships

Over the weekend, Athletics Ontario ran its first championship event since the pandemic hit. The provincial champs took place Saturday and Sunday in three different locations across the province, each featuring wave starts. AO successfully ran races for runners aged seven through 75, all while maintaining social distancing. In Mallorytown, London and Markham, three different cross-country meets ran as part of the same event.

Each wave of runners was given a time to arrive at the course and a time they had to depart by. They ran 1K races for runners aged eight to 10, 2K for the kids under 14, 4K for U16 and masters runners, 6K for U20 and 8K in the open category. Reid Coolsaet took the win in the master’s division of the central championship – his first cross-country race since 2012 (and his first 4K race in 14 years). Coolsaet wasn’t the only big name entered, several U Sports studs including the University of Guelph’s Hannah Woodhouse and McMaster’s Andrew Davies both took home wins.

Here are the result from the three different regions.
