Brazilian João Vitor De Oliveira did everything he could do to automatically qualify for the next round of the men’s 110m hurdles. Following a rain delay at the Rio Olympics, the hometown favourite dove across the line to qualify by 0.01 seconds.
Nice slide by the Brazilian. The fact that he’s going to the semis makes it even better ?

The top four in each heat of the men’s 110m hurdles automatically qualify for the semifinals. Fortunately, with his belly flop, he was able to run 13.63, which is also a season best. He was fourth in heat three. Canadian Johnathan Cabral qualified for the semifinals in an earlier heat before there was a 15-minute delay due to rain. Cabral also ran 13.63.
The Brazilian never left his lane and was not disqualified for the dive. Athletes must stay in their lanes for the entirety of the 110m hurdles.
