Runners compete for expenses-paid dream wedding

Valentine’s Day may have come and gone, but it seems as though love is still in the air at some races. The inaugural Wedding Fun Run 5K, taking place in Phoenix, Ariz., this weekend is offering a tempting prize for runners in love – an all-expenses-paid US$35,000 wedding

With a prize that valuable, one can see how this “Fun Run” might get pretty competitive, pretty quickly.

The wedding will be awarded to the team with the fastest five runners – that’s right, couples hoping to win will have to draft their speediest friends to come to their assistance. For those that aren’t as fleet-footed, the race is also offering raffle prizes (check out that ring!). And while wedding apparel is not required to race, there is a prize for best costume.

The Wedding Fun Run 5K is being held in tandem with the Phoenix Bridal Show which will take place the day after the race, demonstrating the validity of the niche market for athletic weddings.
