Rupp, the defending champion and three-time Olympian, was the recent winner of the Volkswagen Prague Marathon on May 6 with a time of 2:06:07. In the process Rupp shaved more than three minutes off his PB and became the third-fastest American marathoner in history, behind Khalid Khannouchi.

Rupp was among 23 elites who dropped out of this year’s Boston Marathon due to extreme cold and wet conditions.

Hasay holds the American record for a first marathon, set at Boston in 2017, where she placed third, with a time of 2:23:00. She had to drop out of this year’s Boston Marathon due to a foot injury. She was also third at Chicago later last year, setting a PB, with 2:20:57.
