Six Canadian record-holders to race Payton Jordan

Canadian record-holders and world record-holders to line up Thursday night at Payton Jordan

Thursday evening is Payton Jordan, one of the biggest early-season track meets in North America. The event takes place at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California and is going to host some big Canadian names.

On the women’s side, Jess O’Connell, Rachel Cliff, Natasha Wodak and Jenna Westaway are all competing. Each woman holds a Canadian record and is looking to compete against some of the best in the business. Here’s a rundown of the Canadian women competing Thursday evening.

800m: Westaway, Laurence Cote, Adrea Propp, Lucia Stafford, Elizabeth Whelan, Ashley Taylor, Madeleine Kelly

1,500m: Mariah Kelly, Sarah MacPherson, Erin Teschuk

5,000m: Erica Digby, O’Connell

10,000m: Cliff, Wodak

3,000m steeplechase: Kate Ayers, Charlotte Prouse

On the men’s side, Canadian 5,000m and 10,000m record-holder Moh Ahmed is going to toe the line alongside steeplechase record-holder Matt Hughes and Olympian Anthony Romaniw. Below is the complete list of Canadian men competing.

1,500m: Ahmed, Ben DeVito, Craig Klomp, Hughes, Adam Palamar

5,000m: Ben Flanagan, Justyn Knight, Kieran Lumb

10,000m: Mike Tate, Ben Flanagan, Rory Linkletter

3,000m steeplechase: Jean-Simon Desgagnes, John Gay

On top of the killer Canadian lineup, the meet is hosting multiple American record-holder Jenny Simpson and world indoor mile record holder Yomif Kejelcha.
