Support Ukraine with “United By Bravery” virtual charity run

Run Ukraine is inviting the world to participate in the United By Bravery charity event

In Feb. 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine, and now, a year later, the fight for Ukraine’s freedom continues. To raise funds for those affected by the war, Run Ukraine—the biggest running event organization in the country—has launched the United By Bravery charity run. This is a virtual event that allows runners from all over the world to show their support for the Ukrainian people and to raise funds for the United24 charity.

Run Ukraine

Before Russia’s invasion, Run Ukraine was responsible for some of the country’s largest races, including the Kyiv City Marathon and Kyiv Half Marathon. The company’s race schedule has been put on an indefinite hold ever since the invasion started, and Run Ukraine informed Canadian Running that now, instead of planning races, some team members (including the CEO and operations director) are fighting on the front lines.

Despite the limited team and the inability to hold a race on the streets of Ukraine, the company’s remaining staffs are promoting a virtual event that transcends the country’s borders.

United By Bravery charity run

The United By Bravery charity run will help raise funds for an initiative from United24 and Uber that aims to purchase ambulances for Ukraine. The event has three set distances with a 10K, a half-marathon and a full marathon, but it also has a “free distance” option that allows you to run as much or as little as you want. This free distance option is great for anyone eager to support the cause but who isn’t keen on running 10K or more. There is also a team event that will see pairs of runners run as far as they please.

Participants can opt to receive a physical medal or a virtual one, and each registrant will be given an electronic bib number. The team at Run Ukraine adds that while it’s not a must, “it would be great if you could bring a flag of Ukraine … with you for [your] run” to show your support for the nation and its people.

The run will take place on March 11 and 12. To learn more about the race and to sign up, click here
