Take part for free in the ASICS World Ekiden Relay

Compete against the world in a relay with six of your running friends

The 2021 ASICS World Ekiden Relay invites you and your closest running friends to participate for free in a virtual marathon relay. The ASICS World Ekiden 2021 is now open for registration, and the race window will take place between Nov. 10-22. Teams will complete six portions – three 5K segments, two 10K segments and one 7.2 km segment, totalling the marathon distance of 42.2K. Along the way, a digital tasuki is passed between runners to achieve the fastest time possible over the six segments.

The term ekiden comes from the heart of Japanese running culture, meaning from station to station or a relay. In traditional races, each team member would cover a specific segment towards the team’s collective goal. The first ekiden relay race was held in Japan over 100 years ago. In 2021, it is the same goal.
