The Games will provide an excellent opportunity to race a few months before this year’s world championhips in Doha in September, and the team hopes to top the 27 podium finishes it earned at the 2015 Games in Toronto. Two notable medallists from 2015 include decathlete Damian Warner, who won gold, and Gen Lalonde, who won bronze in the 3,000m steeplechase.

Lalonde achieved Canada’s best finish for a woman since 2004 at the World Cross Country Championships in Denmark in March and set a new personal best in the 1,500m at the Speed River Inferno in Guelph earlier this month. Lalonde holds the Canadian record in the 3,000m steeplechase, which she will be running in Lima.

Other names to note include Canadian marathon and half-marathon record-holder Rachel Cliff, heptathlete Georgia Ellenwood, Canadian 10,000m record-holder Natasha Wodak and Canadian 800m record-holder Brandon McBride.

Here are the athletes who will be traveling to Lima next month, in alphabetical order. (Names with asterisks are athletes who also represented Canada at the 2015 Pan Am Games.)
