There's never a dull moment at the TCS New York City Marathon
Photo by: Kevin MorrisThe men’s and women’s races at Sunday’s TCS New York City Marathon provided many storylines; many came from participants, and some of the funniest came from spectators.
Wrinkle defends his title as the fastest duck!
Wrinkle made headlines during last year’s marathon when she was spotted turning those little legs through the borough of Queens. Wrinkle has a large social media following, boasting over 600,000 followers on Instagram. Earlier this year, Wrinkle set a one-kilometre duck world record of 18 minutes and eight seconds at New York’s Long Island Marathon.

Real-life Frogger (featuring runners)
It’s hard enough to cross the street in New York City as it is; now, imagine trying to cross while 50,000 runners are coming at you. This 77-year-old woman faced either a very long walk or cutting across the course to get to the subway. She made it her mission to find a gap and bolt to the other side. A wholesome celebration too!
New York City Marathon! My 77-year-old mother in law had to get to the subway. Walk four blocks or cut through the marathon runners. There she goes. @barstoolsports #Frogger pic.twitter.com/VbM8rkkMdV

We’ve officially seen it all
I think this man might be pitching his product to the wrong crowd. Not many marathoners seem to be interested.

What’s a marathon without the pineapple man?
The pineapple marathon man, Moshe Lederfien, who made headlines at the 2022 Berlin Marathon (pun intended), was spotted in NYC. Lederfien completed the marathon in 5 hours and 45 minutes while running (again) with a pineapple on his head.

An ode to the best signs
Kudos to this spectator for this very timely sign. Good thing Elon Musk isn’t a marathoner.
Here are some honourable mentions.
