2025 Chicago Marathon

Kevin Morris

The 2025 Bank of America Chicago Marathon brought the heat—both physically and literally. The race saw two first-time Abbott World Marathon Major winners in Uganda’s Jacob Kiplimo and Ethiopia’s Hawi Feysa, who both ran huge personal bests to break the tape in Chicago’s Grant Park. Outside of the winners, those who tuned in got to see the second-fastest marathon time ever run by a Canadian and a national masters record in the women’s 55-59 age group.

Here’s a more in-depth look at the top Canadian finishers and performances:

On the men’s side, Calgary’s Rory Linkletter led the way with his second consecutive top-10 finish at a marathon major, placing ninth overall in a personal best time of 2:06:49. Linkletter set out to challenge Cam Levins’s national record of 2:05:36, and he didn’t finish too far off—clocking the second-fastest marathon time ever by a Canadian man.

The top Canadian female was Montreal’s Bianca Prémont, who ran to a personal best of 2:38:11. Her time also lowers the Quebec masters marathon record (of which she already owned). In addition to being the top Canadian woman, she also placed fourth in the women’s 40-44 age group.

There must be something in the Calgary water, as one of the best Canadian performances of the day came from another 403 runner. Masters marathoner Maria Zambrano set a new national record of 2:49:47 in the women’s 55-59 age group, smashing the previous mark by almost 10 minutes. She was the top finisher in her age group by five minutes.
