“We are committed to creating opportunities for women to be healthy and active in an inspiring, fun, and friendly environment,” reads the race website for one of the country’s largest women’s-only circuits. Some runners use the autumn event as a tuneups for cross-country races or just for fun. For others, Saturday’s event was the goal race.

Pan Am Games medallist Sasha Gollish won the women’s 8K on a chilly Saturday morning in Toronto in 27:55. All races are held in Sunnybrook Park and finishers of all three races received a prize for the trifecta. An added bonus was a pair of race gloves that participants received, which may have served runners and walkers well on a 6 C morning.
In the 5K, Lauren King won in 18:03 and was one of three women to run under 19 minutes. According to race timing company Sportstats, there were 807 participants between the two races on Saturday.
