The third event of the Toronto Women’s Run Series concluded the circuit on Saturday with 5K and 8K distances.

The event series, officially known as the 2XU Toronto Women’s Run Series presented by GoodLife Fitness for Women, has been held for eight consecutive years. The race series includes three events including a half-marathon/5K, 10K/5K and 8K/5K with a combination of shorter and longer distances depending on runners’ preferences.

“We are committed to creating opportunities for women to be healthy and active in an inspiring, fun, and friendly environment,” reads the race website for one of the country’s largest women’s-only circuits. Some runners use the autumn event as a tuneups for cross-country races or just for fun. For others, Saturday’s event was the goal race.

Pan Am Games medallist Sasha Gollish won the women’s 8K on a chilly Saturday morning in Toronto in 27:55. All races are held in Sunnybrook Park and finishers of all three races received a prize for the trifecta. An added bonus was a pair of race gloves that participants received, which may have served runners and walkers well on a 6 C morning.
