Two of B.C.’s fastest win Vancouver’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Cunningham Seawall 10K
Geoff Martinson and Rachel Cliff won the Rock 'n' Roll Cunningham Seawall 10K on Saturday in Vancouver, the first of two weekend races.
The first of two marquee Rock ‘n’ Roll Vancouver race weekend events took place on Saturday.
The Cunningham Seawall 10K, celebrating its 46th year, featured a race course along one of Canada’s most scenic runner-friendly routes. Two of the province’s top runners won the men’s and women’s races.
The 10K start began near English Bay Park and included one complete loop of Stanley Park following the Seawall as runners got some of the most picturesque views that Vancouver has to offer.

Rachel Cliff, one of the nation’s fastest 5,000m runners, won the Rock ‘n’ Roll Cunningham Seawall 10K in 35:18 on Saturday. It was a BC Endurance Project sweep as Geoff Martinson won the men’s race in 30:22. The BC Endurance Project is a high-performance training group based in Vancouver, which has produced multiple Olympians including Luc Bruchet and Natasha Wodak.

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Vancouver Half-Marathon will be held on Sunday morning beginning at 8:15 a.m. local time. The start line is located between Burrard and Thurlow with the finish line being at the Stanley Park Seawall near Devonian Harbour Park. The course runs east to begin and loops back near Science World along the shores of False Creek before reaching Stanley Park.
A post-race concert awaits runners tomorrow following the conclusion of the 21.1K. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Series is known for its great pre- and post-race atmosphere, race swag and fun race routes. According to race results, the Cunningham Seawall 10K had 3,071 participants on Saturday.

Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon tweeted out that a T-Rex was spotted on course. Fortunately, organizers managed to capture photo evidence at around the 6K mark with the Lions Gate Bridge in the backdrop.
