This year is the 125th running of Around the Bay, the extremely popular 30K race in Hamilton, Ont. On March 31, thousands of runner will take to the streets to get their spring racing season underway. If you’re looking for a competitive edge, check out our course preview with athlete and coach Patrick Mackinnon.
Around the Bay has taken place since 1894, making it technically older than Boston. The event draws a strong contingent of Canadian elites like Reid Coolsaet and Krista DuChene.
The 2019 event will also host American runner and New York City Marathon 7th place finisher Allie Kieffer. Keiffer plans on running the London Marathon and using ATM as a tune-up race, and her addition could potentially place the course record held by former Canadian marathon record holder Lanni Marchant of 1:44:40 in jeopardy.
