VIDEO: Reid Coolsaet looks towards Canadian Marathon Championship title at STWM

The two-time Olympian and second-fastest marathoner in Canadian history will be looking for the Canadian marathon championship title and a fast time on Sunday

Canada’s Reid Coolsaet is set to race the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon on Sunday.

Coolsaet has not raced Scotiabank since 2011, when he qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics by running 2:10:55. He has since lowered his PB to 2:10:28, making him Canada’s second fastest ever marathoner. Coolsaet has had a good year of training and a couple of Canada Running Series 10K wins since the fall of 2017, when he resumed training after being out for six months with a persistent injury.

“A perfect day is 2:09,” says Coolsaet, “but my training has not been perfect…

“My biggest challenge is getting kids’ songs out of my head when I’m running,” he added, referring to the two children he and his wife have had since he last raced Scotia. “That, and getting enough sleep.”

You can catch Coolsaet at the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon this Sunday in Toronto. The race gets underway at 8:45 a.m. EDT. A course map can be found here
