A pair of Canadians represented Syracuse University at the NCAA D1 championships (there are three tiers in the primary American collegiate system with D1 being the most competitive) in Birmingham, Ala. Justyn Knight, one of Canada’s most promising distance athletes, finished third in the men’s 3,000m while Ottawa’s Adam Palamar took eighth in the men’s mile.
Knight is now an All-American in cross-country, indoor track, and outdoor track. All-American status is an accolade given to athletes for a top-eight finish at indoor nationals.
