On this week’s episode of The Shakeout, Canadian Running editor Michael Doyle and podcast producer Joan Chung look back at the history of the New York City Marathon. From its humble beginnings as a race entirely within Central Park, it evolved into a five-borough tour of the city and the single biggest marathon in the world.
This year the race takes place on Sunday November 5 and will see over 50,000 runners at the start on the iconic Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. Michael, along with staff writer Tim Huebsch, are in New York City to report on the race. Keep posted to Canadian Running for updates on the elite races, celebrity runners, and other race weekend info.
