Shalane Flanagan’s finishing sequence of the 2017 TCS New York City Marathon is featured in American singer-songwriter Carrie Underwood’s newest music video.

The Champion, featuring Ludacris, was first released on Jan. 12, 2018 as the opening theme for NBC’s coverage of Super Bowl LII. The song’s music video was released on March 2.

Flanagan’s appearance comes at the 0:54 mark of the video.

“The lyrics and imagery give me chills and make me want to go crush a run and cry all at the same time,” Flanagan says via Instagram. “Thank you Carrie, it’s an absolute privilege to be included in this piece of art.”

In a statement released in January, Underwood said that the “main focus (of the song) was to celebrate athletes at the top of their game, but we also wanted the song to resonate with people in their everyday lives.”

Flanagan became the first American woman in 40 years to win the New York City Marathon in November 2017.
