Name: Meggan Franks

Current location: Starkville, Miss.
Associated club/coach: Rabbit Elite and Run Relentless/my husband Houston
Previous marathons: 9 Marathons, 1 Ultra Marathon

Describe yourself: I’m a mom to two wonderful kids; Patrick (3) and Madison (7). I work at Mississippi State University and coach the local high school and middle school cross country teams by day. Most of my running takes place in the 4-6 a.m. hours each day. There’s really not much else.

Most notable running/racing experience: Winning the Canadian Mountain Championships for the first time in 2013. It was unexpected and I was just coming off a really bad performance at the Canadian Half-Marathon Championships. Since then my training has focused on mountain running and marathons.

How has training for STWM gone: It has gone well, though it has not been easy. I’ve run more than I ever have while working 70 hours a week over two jobs, and raising my two beautiful kids. Though my workload will likely decrease in the new year, getting a big personal best while having to balance so much these past few months would be pretty awesome. I’m so ready for this race.

Why STWM? I ran it last year and had a fantastic time. I love the city and I cannot wait to return. I also appreciate everything the Canada Running Series does for elite and semi-elite Canadian athletes.

Goals for the race? I hope to run a personal best and come away with a positive race experience. I also hope to have fun.

What gear will you be sporting? I’ll be wearing my runinrabbit.com Rabbit Elite team kit. I have not totally decided on my shoes. Lately, I’ve been racing in Hoka One One.
