The 2017 IAAF World Championships, the biggest track meet since last summer’s Rio Olympics, start Friday in London, England. The event runs from August 4th and concludes 10 days later on the 13th and will feature many of the world’s top athletes and a strong Canadian contingent.

Be sure to follow our extensive coverage of the Championships on our website and live via Twitter.

Expect a strong showing from the Canadian Team that includes strong medal hopefuls in Derek Drouin, Damian Warner, Melissa Bishop, Mohammad Ahmed, among others. In Beijing 2015, Canada placed 7th overall in the medal standings with eight medals including two golds and three each silver and bronze.

Notably, this will be 100m superstar Usain Bolt’s last competition before retiring from the sport. Bolt will aim to extend an unbeaten streak that spans almost a decade and solidify his status as the greatest sprinter of all time. Andre De Grasse was to be his biggest competition. The Canadian star has since pulled out due to injury.
