Oiselle's Allie Kieffer shares side-by-side photo showing how "social media can be deceiving"
Ever since her New York City Marathon performance, Allie Kieffer has been rising the ranks of global distance running because both of what she does on the roads and what she shares on social media.
The Oiselle-sponsored distance runner shared side-by-side photos from Iten, Kenya, where she’s currently training, showing two “different looks” from the same day. “Same girl, same day, yet two different looks,” she says, prefacing that with “social media can be deceiving.”
The Buffalo, N.Y. resident made headlines in January after publishing a piece in Self Magazine entitled “My weight has nothing to do with how good a runner I am.” Soon after, Kieffer won the Ooredoo Doha Half-Marathon in 1:10:40, building upon her surprise fifth-place finish (2:29:39) at the 2017 TCS New York City Marathon.

“After scrolling through the beautiful bodies on IG I’m less satisfied with my own. It’s easy to see perfection and feel defeated, like I could never look like that. But, social media can be deceiving, like the picture above. Same girl, same day, yet two different looks.
“I’ve been getting a lot of questions about body image. I can’t help but wonder – why are we judging others or ourselves based on the way one looks? We are so much more than perfect little pictures.

Kieffer is on track to race the 2018 London Marathon.
