Canadian sprinter Andre de Grasse may be injured, but he still has enough star power to make an appearance at Sunday night’s Shawn Mendes Show–er, the MuchMusic Video Awards–alongside such giants of the pop music world as Shawn Mendes himself, Meghan Trainor, Alessia Cara and Marshmello.

In photos, the sprinter appeared absorbed in a video game. Perhaps indicating some discomfort at being there, De Grasse tweeted that “the best part of the #iHeartRadioMMVAs is playing Nintendo Switch at the #NintendoCanada VIP lounge!”

Other prominent Canadian athletes were invited to the red carpet, such as WNBA sensation Kia Nurse. Nurse is a 22-year-old from Hamilton, Ont. who has set WNBA franchise records in her time with the New York Liberty.
