Andre De Grasse honoured at Toronto Raptors game, gets standing ovation

Canadian sprint star and three-time Olympic medallist Andre De Grasse was honoured at a recent Toronto Raptors game where he received a standing ovation.

The Toronto Raptors had a special guest at the Air Canada Centre recently with the three-time Olympic medallist Andre De Grasse making an appearance.

Canada’s only National Basketball Association team was hosting defending champions Cleveland Cavaliers on Oct. 29. The team presented De Grasse with a customized jersey and showed him on the jumbotron to honour his accomplishments from the August Olympics.

De Grasse, 21, won a silver (200m) and two bronze (100m, 4x100m) at the Olympics. Usain Bolt won gold medals in all three of the marquee sprint events in Rio. Since the 2016 Games, De Grasse has been busy including a recent trip to Chile for Puma, his sponsor.

The Toronto Raptors just recently began their 2016-2017 campaign. The game against the Cavaliers, where De Grasse took in the action from courtside seats, was the Raptors’ second game of the year. Cleveland won 94-91.
