Can you recognize these Olympic medallists as teenagers?

The Olympics are the biggest event in our sport and a huge moment for athletes who spend their lives training to qualify. We will always remember athletes like Usain Bolt and Eliud Kipchoge as champions, but we may forget where they started in their youth. 

Can you name these five Olympic medallists as teenagers?

1) This Markham, Ont. sprinter is Canada’s most decorated male summer Olympian and is the Canadian record holder in the 200m.

Hint: This is a photo of him and another Canadian Olympian at the 2012 YRAA high-school Championships

2) He is the world record holder in the indoor 1,500m and has world and Olympic medals to his name.

3) Until 2022, he held the North American record in the 5,000 and 10,000m. He is a two-time Commonwealth Games medallist and won silver at Tokyo 2020.

4) At Tokyo 2020, she became the second Dutch athlete ever to win three Olympic medals in three individual track events.

5) She is one of the most decorated 100m sprinters in Olympic history, with eight medals to her name, three of them gold.
