Canadian 3,000m steeplechase record holder signs with Bowerman Track Club
Matt Hughes, the Canadian record holder in the 3,000m steeplechase, joined the Bowerman Track Club, based in Portland, Ore., yesterday.
Portland, Ore., known as a hotbed for professional running, got even faster on Wednesday as Canadian 3,000m steeplechase record holder Matthew Hughes joined the Bowerman Track Club.
Hughes, a native of Oshawa, Ont., won gold at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto and finished eighth at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics, both in the men’s 3,000m steeplechase.
Canadian 5,000m record holder Mohammed Ahmed, who made a recent appearance at the Ontario high school cross-country championships, is also a member of the Bowerman TC as the Canadian contingent continues to grow. Fellow Canadian Cam Levins trains nearby with the Nike Oregon Project.
