There isn’t much that Quebec’s Audrey Leduc, Canada’s standout performer of 2024, hasn’t accomplished. Last year alone, the 25-year-old made her first two Canadian teams, broke three national records and became an Olympic finalist. On Wednesday, Leduc took to Instagram to announce yet another remarkable achievement: the signing of a professional contract with Adidas.

“Hello, hello,” Leduc captioned the post. “Officially an Adidas athlete.”

Leduc was named Canadian Running‘s Rising Star of 2024, decisively establishing herself as a threat on the world stage early in the year. She qualified for Glasgow’s World Indoor Championships in March, where she earned a personal best and a spot in the semi-final. Although it was her first time wearing the Canadian singlet, the championships only marked the beginning of a successful year of track. Leduc went on to break Angela Bailey’s 36-year-old 100m record in April, running 10.96, and a month later, claimed the 200m record with a 22.36-second run in Atlanta in June, smashing a seven-year-old record held by Crystal Emmanuel.

The Quebec native’s new records surpassed the Olympic standard by a significant margin, leading her to secure her spot on her second national team headed to Paris in July. There, Leduc further improved her 100m record to 10.95 in her Olympic debut, and hurtled into the 100m and 200m semi-finals. The sprinter concluded her first Games by anchoring the Canadian 4 x 100m relay to another national record, which launched them into the event’s final.

Leduc joins Canadian Olympic silver medallist Marco Arop, 400m record holder Christopher Morales Williams and Olympic 100m hurdler Mariam Abdul-Rashid on the nation’s short list of professional Adidas athletes.
