Family representative for the “Mad Pooper” speaks out
A spokesman for a runner a local family has nicknamed the "Mad Pooper" goes on video to share two updates in regards to the "situation"
Last week, a Colorado Springs runner made global headlines after repeatedly stopping for bathroom breaks on a family’s property. The woman’s identity remains a mystery.
This past weekend, a man calling himself a “family representative” for the woman posted a video addressing the situation. In the video, the spokesman says that the woman will remain anonymous adding that she would like to “formally apologize.” According to the video, the family is working with the runner following a “TBI,” or traumatic brain injury, which the representative says has led to “issues with bowel control and mental processing.”
A Colorado Springs family nicknamed the woman “Mad Pooper” after Cathy Budde says her children witnessed her “mid-squat, pants down and unashamed.” The bathroom breaks in the Budde family’s yard occurred at “least once a week” for as many as seven weeks, according to KKTV. They claim a public restroom is located nearby.

“When nature calls, nature calls,” the man says adding that the family will take the case to the supreme court if necessary. In a second video, the man reveals information that “Shirley,” as she’s referred to as, didn’t want to be released to the public.

Local police were flooded with media requests after the story broke. “We’re being very careful. Yes it’s humourous, but we want to be careful if this is a mental health issue,” Colorado Springs Police public information officer Lt. Howard Black said.
Though the video’s authenticity has not been confirmed by local news, a Denver-based journalist tweeted out a link to it on Monday.
