Runners binge watch Game of Thrones on 600K trek across Italy

A (physically) exhausting form of a Game of Thrones marathon

Game of Thrones Marathon

There appears to be a new meaning when someone refers to partaking in a Game of Thrones marathon.

Fans of the HBO show, now in its seventh season, may be more familiar with the binge-viewing-version of a Game of Thrones marathon. In Italy, it’s taken on a more literal, and physically exhausting, meaning.

According to Adweek, Sky put on an ultramarathon with a lead truck that showed all 60 episodes, each approximately one hour in length, of the popular television series ahead of the season seven premiere. Approximately 600K later, following stages across Rome, Montalcino, Massa, Carrara and Bobbio, finishers then watched the season seven premiere.

The ultra ended in Milan at Sforzesco Castle with thousands of locals joining the runners to take in the newest episode in the medieval fantasy series.
