Guess which of Kathrine Switzer’s running stats you can track during the NYC marathon?

The famous running legend will be hooked up to a monitor for the full 42.2K with her stats broadcast live

Kathrine Switzer’s second marathon of 2017 should provide some rather interesting insights.

The iconic runner isn’t wasting any of the fitness she gained after Boston. In case you’ve somehow missed the big news, she’s racing the TCS New York City Marathon on Nov. 5. That marathon – which she’s running with members of 261 Fearless – will be the last big event of the year that marks the 50th anniversary since she became the first woman to run the Boston Marathon with an official bib.

She ran Boston in April. This time, for New York, Switzer is being hooked up to monitors while her heart rate, breathing rate, pace and speed will all be tracked using Performance Metrics powered by TCS. The women’s running legend is taking part in this project along with a group of notable runners including Meb Keflezighi. Each of them will show up ready to race the marathon wearing a device attached to their body that will provide real-time data. These details will be made public during the race broadcast. (For Canadians visiting New York, this will air live on WABC and on ESPN2 in the U.S.)

This means that for the first time, fans and followers of Switzer can actually track her stats as she runs. But, if you’re like many runners and get confused by all the numbers and metrics, note that John Brenkas of ESPN’s “Sports Science” will be giving these numbers context so that spectators can actually have some idea of what it all means.

Looks like we’ve come a long way from knowing just our heroes’ finishing times…
