During Mexican president Enrique Pena Nieto’s recent trip to Canada, he and prime minister Justin Trudeau were able to get in a quick run in the nation’s capital before getting down to business. The two were spotted running across the Alexandra Bridge from Ottawa to nearby Gatineau. Parliament Hill is visible in the background.

The run happened early on Tuesday morning before official meetings got underway. The two departed from the Chateau Laurier hotel and took the trip across the bridge into Quebec. The Ottawa marathon, held annually in May, goes across that bridge which runs past the National Art Gallery.

Trudeau dons the short shorts

Trudeau was sporting black short shorts and a Saskatchewan Jazz Festival t-shirt while Nieto had black shorts and a fluorescent top. It was clearly a warm morning in Ottawa. Security guards accompanied them on bikes and on the run.

President Obama will be visiting on Wednesday to mark the beginning of the Three Amigos Summit.

It’s not the first time that Canadians have spotted Trudeau out for a run. The Prime Minister has raced the Army Run in Ottawa in previous years.
