Hot takes with Canadian steeplechase record-holder Gen Lalonde

She'll take the beach over the city and all dressed chips over Cheetos

Gen Lalonde is one of Canada’s best distance runners. The University of Guelph alumna is the Canadian 3,000m steeplechase record-holder, and she is gearing up for the World Cross-Country Championships on March 30.

We know that Lalonde is into track, and we know that she’s a high-level athlete, but below are some of Lalonde’s opinions that we were unaware of before yesterday. We presented her with 10 rapid-fire questions on contested topics that don’t necessarily have anything to do with running. Here’s how she answered.

Flaming Hot Cheetos or all dressed chips? All dressed chips. I just really like chips.

Treadmill or cold-weather run? Cold weather run.

Ariana Grande or Kanye? Kanye.

Nike Vaporfly’s: too much or just enough? I’ll wait until New Balance comes out with a similar shoe.

Toronto or Los Angeles? Toronto, I like the vibe better.

Friends or Seinfeld? Friends. I grew up dancing to the theme song. 

Apple or Google? Both. I’m have a Google home system and a Google phone but also an iPad and a Mac. 

Fancy or casual? Casual with a fancy dinner.

Cocktail or beer? Sparkling juice. 

City or beach? Beach.
