How podcaster/filmmaker Billy Yang suggests living your life in 2020

The popular running filmmaker and podcaster has some words of wisdom to share about how to approach your life in 2020

We’re more than a year into the new year. How are you doing with your resolutions? If your resolve is starting to fade already, check out this inspiring film by filmmaker and podcaster of the running world, Billy Yang. It’s guaranteed to give you a lift, because Yang has spent a lot of time thinking about the kind of life he wants to live, and he manages to conveys that intentionality while showing you some great race footage.

The film is only six minutes and 18 seconds long. But not only does it pack a lot of wisdom, it has some great footage from races like Western States and the Houston and New York marathons and athletes like Jim Walmsley, Courtney Dauwalter, Justin Grunewald, Kara Goucher and YiOu Wang.

Yang still gets to race and surf now and then, despite his busy schedule traveling to document some of the world’s coolest road and trail races. Granted, he lives in southern California, which surely doesn’t hurt when you’re looking for inspiration to keep going with your goals. The film is an essay inspired by the writer and chef Anthony Bourdain, whose message about simplicity and the important things in life attracted many adherents well outside of his professional domain.

Like Bourdain, Yang is a champion of simplicity. He claims to drive an 15-year-old SUV (Nissan) with almost 200,000 miles (322,000 kilometres) on it, when he’s not jetting off to cover a race.

The film might just help you remember what you want to get from 2020.
