It appears the Nike Oregon Project has a new fan after photos surfaced of an American actor sporting the training group’s attire recently.
Jake Gyllenhaal was spotted running in a Nike Oregon Project singlet over the holidays in Saint Barthélemy, a French-speaking island in the Caribbean. His choice of footwear appears to be Brooks. The Beaverton, Ore.-based group posted a photo of Gyllenhaal sporting the Oregon Project colours with its recognizable logo captioning it: “Please help us welcome Jake Gyllenhaal to the Oregon Project.”

The Nike Oregon Project notably includes four-time Olympic champion Mo Farah, Olympic 1,500m champion Matt Centrowitz, two-time Olympic medallist Galen Rupp, U.S. 1,500m record holder Shannon Rowbury and Canadian 10,000m record holder Cam Levins. The group had a standout year as the members of the group won the men’s 1,500m, men’s 5,000m and men’s 10,000m in Rio.

Gyllenhaal, 36, is known for his roles in Nightcrawler, which earned him a nomination for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Drama, The Day After Tomorrow, Brokeback Mountain and Donnie Darko, among others. He was born in Los Angeles.
“Needed a 400 leg for a DMR,” Centrowitz commented on the Instagram photo, referring to the distance medley relay, an event with 400m, 800m, 1,200m and one-mile segments. Chris Chavez, a writer for Sports Illustrated, tweeted out the photo captioning it “2017 is off to a weird start.”
According to Men’s Journal, Gyllenhaal has been running for a number of years as a means to stay fit. In 2014, he was running lots in preparation for the movie Nightcrawler and has also admitted to battling shin splits, a common injury among runners, in the past.
