Our burning question is: could the show finally provide the perfect platform for Malcolm Gladwell and LeBron James to race a mile?

NBA star LeBron James is the executive producer of the upcoming CBS show ‘Million Dollar Mile.’

The show will shut down the streets of major cities and build running courses on top of them. These courses are reportedly hoping to be some of the “most challenging courses ever designed.”

The CBS show will pit elite athletes against one another, with the victor earning $1 million in prize money. The show is the first of its kind. As CBS described it, “Basically just imagine “The Amazing Race,” “American Ninja Warrior” and MTV’s “The Challenge” had a baby who emerged from the womb holding a kettlebell.”

Our burning question is: could the show finally provide the perfect platform for Malcolm Gladwell and LeBron James to race a mile?

The two have volleyed back and forth on Twitter, suggesting an eventual mile face-off. The joked reached a new level on August 8th when Gladwell extended the mile face-off invitation to both of their mothers.

The show is presented by the same producers responsible for “Big Brother,” so it will surely be entertaining.

“LeBron represents the epitome of strength, vision and determination—all skills one will need to complete this one-of-a-kind course where every runner has a chance to win $1,000,000,” said Sharon Vuong, Senior Vice President, Alternative, CBS Entertainment.

Since signing with the Lakers earlier this summer, the basketball player has branched out to several areas unrelated to his sport. James opened a public school for underprivileged kids in his hometown of Akron, Ohio. The ‘I Promise School’ opened its doors to 240 new students, providing them with an education and opportunities to thrive despite their difficult life situations. Each student will also receive a bicycle and a helmet.

James also has several other television deals in the works. “Shut Up and Dribble” is a Showtime documentary that will be produced by James.
