Make your post-marathon beer a RunTOBeer Pale Ale by Great Lakes Brewing

Toronto's CRAFT Beer Market will host the post-STWM party, featuring the special new brew

This Sunday, Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon and half-marathon finishers and their supporters will get to refresh themselves with a new brew, specially created for this year’s marathon event by RunTOBeer and Great Lakes Brewery. RunTOBeer Pale Ale will officially launch at CRAFT Beer Market Toronto, a short walk from the finish line, on Sunday afternoon.

The pub will have a free can ready for the first 300 runners who show up with their race bib, and anyone not running on Sunday can still enjoy the special brew on tap. The cans will also be available at Great Lakes’ taproom and retail store in Etobicoke, with 50 cents from each purchase being donated to Good Foot Delivery, a non-profit foot courier service that employs adults with developmental disabilities. (In the past two years, RunTOBeer has raised almost $30,000 for Good Foot through the Scotiabank Charity Challenge.)

The brew’s distinctive commemorative can, designed by Richard Kuchinsky of The Directive Collective, has a spot for you to record your finishing time. (Kuchinsky also designed this year’s cool race shirt.)

New Balance athletes and beer lovers Reid Coolsaet and Rachel Hannah were on hand in late September to help cook up the new brew, which is described as a hazy pale ale with an alcohol content of 4.5 per cent. Coolsaet will toe the line Sunday for the marathon, which doubles as the Canadian Olympic Marathon Trials. Hannah recently won the final edition of the Run for the Toad 25K near Cambridge, Ont.
