Olympic sprinter accurately predicts future with social media post from 2011

American sprinter Morolake Akinosun tweeted out five years ago that she would make the Olympics in 2016. That post has now gone viral.

On July 28, 2011, American sprinter Morolake Akinosun tweeted her Olympic dream after watching footage from the world championships. It appears that she can predict the future as her Olympic dream has come true.

The tweet, sent out via social media platform Twitter, reads “In 2016, I will be 22, graduated from a school I have not chosen yet, and going to the Olympics.”

Five years later, Akinosun re-shared that message on Twitter with added commentary that reads “It’s 2016, I graduate from Texas in December and I’m going to the Olympics next week.”

The post has gone viral and has been shared around the world ahead of the August Olympics, which begin on Aug. 5.

In just two days, the tweet has been shared more than 160,000 times and has more than 340,000 likes. The 22-year-old will run for the United States in the 4x100m relay in the Olympics. She ran for the U.S. at the Pan Am Games in Toronto last summer.

She is currently at the University of Texas and is expected to graduate in December. She was 17 at the time of her original post and had not yet committed to a university. She went to high school in Illinois.
