Need gear? Here is the world’s most expensive running kit

You'd be surprised. It is still cheaper than cycling

Running is relatively inexpensive until you include all the needed destination races and recovery tools you use once in a blue moon. I mean, it isn’t as expensive as cycling… When starting out, all you need is a good pair of shoes, comfortable bottoms and blister-free socks. You should have no trouble getting all three items for around $300. The sport is as expensive as you want it to be, so let’s design the world’s most expensive running kit.

(All prices shown in USD)

Christian Dior VIBE Sneakers – $1,450

Are you lacking the vibe on your morning run? These Dior Vibe Sneakers reimagine the classic running shoe with a “couture spirit.” The runners combine technical fabric, mesh and white matte rubber inserts, which should complement any casual or elegant attire.

Unfortunately, the CD Vibe runners don’t come with a carbon plate.

Christian Dior ERL Running Shorts – $1,350

Sick and tired of racing in your same old split shorts? “Look good, feel good” with the ERL Running Shorts from Christian Dior. The purple trim and elastic waist enhance the practical style and contemporary esthetic of the shorts, which can be paired nicely with the next item…

Bottega Veneta, wool-blend track jacket – $2,199

This sporty jacket from Italian designer Bottega Veneta is a wool blend with racing stripes on the sleeves. Probably offers a lot of warmth for Canadian winters.

Balenciaga/Adidas Athletic Tank Top – $1,150

The collaboration we didn’t know we needed! This tank top is guaranteed fast and will pair well as a moisture-wicking fabric under the Italian jacket. If you want a tight-fitting tank, this top is five per cent elastane and 65 per cent viscose, the main material in sheets. This tank screams comfort.

Balenciaga Neon running socks – $175

Reflectivity is important all year round, and everyone knows neon green is the best way to be seen as a runner. These socks seem durable and bright, but we would not recommend them for trail running because you don’t want to tarnish the neon colour.

Total: $6,324.00

(The same price as 23 pairs of carbon-plated shoes)
