The mastermind behind the account is Barton-Robbins, who says that the account is a way for out-of-town members of the family to stay up-to-date on Reed. The youngest of the Robbins family has already been on some adventurous trail running trips including to the 2016 Barkley Marathons. The family is scheduled to make the trip again to Frozen Head State Park, Tenn. this March-April where Gary Robbins will look to become the first Canadian to finish the more-than-100-mile race.

Reed has even completed in trail races, though he got a free ride courtesy of a baby carrier. As a side note, the Instagram captions are also pure gold. “File under: evidence for my teenage self that Dad was once totally cool,” reads one showing Reed’s father, Gary, fielding a video interview with CTV News.

“Gary’s parents live in Newfoundland and my mother lives in Washington State, so I started this account as a way for them to see how Reed is growing and what he gets up to on a daily basis,” says Barton-Robbins, the “mastermind” behind the account. “But it’s also been a way for Gary and I to document memories for ourselves and for Reed. Someday I’ll be able to point at a picture and say, ‘Look what we were doing when you were little.’ It’s been fun and it’s not uncommon for either Gary or myself to lose ourselves as we scroll through his feed reminiscing. I certainly didn’t expect it to grow the way it has and every now and then we get feedback from followers who express how they enjoy watching life through his little kid eyes. Reed just makes people smile, in photos and in person.”

Considering the potential for some crazy outdoor adventures at the Barkley Marathons, this Instagram account could become a popular one in the running community.
