Rory Linkletter joins forces with Puma Running

The Canadian half-marathon record holder has signed a contract with the German sportswear brand Puma

The Canadian half-marathon record holder, Rory Linkletter, is partnering up with Puma Running for the 2022 season. Linkletter announced on his Instagram, citing “A fast cat spotted in the wild.”

The 25-year-old distance runner spent several years with Hoka Northern Arizona Elite in Flagstaff, Ariz., before leaving the club in late 2021 to pursue an opportunity with U.S. distance coach and American marathon record holder Ryan Hall.

At the 2022 Houston Half Marathon, Linkletter shattered Jeff Schiebler’s 23-year-old Canadian half-marathon record of 1:01:28 from 1999. After only two months of training with Hall, Linkletter ran a personal best time of 1:01:08, taking 20 seconds off the previous Canadian record and 36 seconds off his previous best.

Linkletter has started his 2022 outdoor track season with a bang, running a personal best of 13:29.67 over 5,000m and finishing third at last weekend’s Canadian 10,000m championships in Burnaby, B.C., behind Olympians Luc Bruchet and Charles Philibert-Thiboutot in 28:26.27.

In a January interview on Canadian Running’s Shakeout Podcast, Linkletter spoke about his goal of getting faster on the track this summer and potentially returning to the marathon in the fall.
