From now until the Olympic Games, listen in every Friday as host Kate Van Buskirk interviews our top athletes vying for a spot on Team Canada

Shakeout Podcast

With the Olympics only five weeks away, Canada’s Olympic hopefuls have been training hard and racing harder in order to achieve Olympic standard in their event and give themselves the best possible chance at being selected to represent Canada in Tokyo. Starting this week, Canadian track fans will have the opportunity to hear from some of these athletes by tuning in to The Shakeout Podcast to listen to our new weekly series, “The Shakeout Podcast: Olympic-Bound Canadians”.

Over the next several weeks, host Kate Van Buskirk, who is herself an Olympic contender, will be sitting down some of our country’s best runners who are, in all likelihood, Tokyo-bound. These are athletes who have either achieved their Olympic qualifying standard, or who are in a World Athletics ranking spot and have a chance of being named to the team.

Each episode will focus on a different event group and sex category. Van Buskirk will chat with the athletes about their preparation for the Olympics, their goals, their major competitors and any other exciting storylines to follow between now and the start of the Games. The first episode of the series will be released this Friday, June 19, and will feature the Women’s 800m with Melissa Bishop-Nriagu, Lindsey Butterworth and Maddy Kelly.

If you’re a Canadian track fan, or simply someone who’s looking to learn a little more about the athletes who’ll be wearing the red and white in Tokyo this summer, this series will be a must-listen. To be sure you don’t miss an episode, subscribe here.
