VIDEO: Locals rally to clear snow from golf course ahead of nationals
Bend, Ore. residents have rallied to clear snow from a local golf course a week ahead of the USATF Cross-Country Championships.
Two weeks ago it was Quinn Schneider shovelling a lane of a track in North Carolina.

Now, ahead of the United States Cross-Country Championships, volunteers in Bend, Ore. have come together to clear snow off a local golf course, which doubles as the race site. Crews have until next Saturday to remove snow from a 2K stretch at River’s Edge Golf Course. The same loop will be used for varying distances on Saturday depending on the race category.
Certain volunteers have opted to shovel while others have used snow blowers to clear the massive amounts of snow the region has received this winter. (See the below photo, for example.) One issue that has arisen is that portions of the course are covered in hard-packed snow making removal difficult. According to KTVZ, Visit Bend is donating $20 to local nonprofits for every volunteer who helps out. Organizers opted to make the clearing a community challenge in place of hiring professionals.
U.S. nationals, officially known as the USATF Cross-Country Championships, are slated for Feb. 4. River’s Edge hosted the event back in 2013.
