One man was caught on camera testing his speed towards the end of a horse race in Australia last weekend.

Opting to run without shoes, the man begins in a four-point start – without blocks – on the grass adjacent to the track. Despite a head start, the 11 horses and jockeys quickly pass the man who pulls up appearing to injure his hamstring after stepping on some uneven ground.

The unidentified man may have been better off in the end had he done a proper warmup before discovering his top speed wasn’t a match for the thoroughbreds. According to the Sky Racing video, the race took place in Hobart, the most populous city in Tasmania, an Australian island state. The race commentators did not acknowledge the sprinting man in the clip.

In a more organized capacity, there are man versus horse races in the running world including an annual 35K race in Wales. The Man versus Horse Marathon, though it’s not quite 42K, began in 1980. Humans have on two occasions defeated the horse, first in 2004 and again in 2007.
